Airless or HVLP: which suits the job

Airless spraying pushes paint at high pressure through a fine tip, which makes it the quickest way to coat large walls and ceilings in offices, developments and open spaces. HVLP uses a high volume of air at low pressure, laying down a finer, more controlled coat with far less overspray. That suits doors, joinery and cabinetry, where the finish is seen up close. Many jobs use both: airless for the broad areas, HVLP for the detail.

What can be sprayed on site

Walls and ceilings, skirting, architraves and frames, internal doors, and cabinetry such as kitchen units and shopfittings can all be sprayed without leaving the building. Finishing in place avoids the delay of sending items away to a workshop and returns an even coat with no brush marks or roller texture.

Protecting the building while we spray

Overspray is controlled by preparation. Floors, windows, fixtures and anything not being coated are masked and sheeted before the first coat, and work areas are contained so mist and dust stay inside them. On occupied commercial sites we can spray out of hours, so each space is masked, sprayed and cleared before staff or customers come back in.

Commercial spraying covers offices, shops, schools and public buildings that need to stay in use. We split the building into zones and spray in the evenings or at weekends, so each area is masked, coated, unmasked and cleaned before it is needed again. RAMS are supplied before we start, and one contact runs the job from survey to handover.

Spray painting walls and ceilings

On large walls and ceilings an airless sprayer lays down a flat, uniform coat with no roller texture, and covers open spans far faster than a roller. That makes it well suited to open-plan offices, sports halls, corridors and new developments. Edges and details are then cut in by hand where needed, so the finish is clean right up to frames and fittings.

Airless spraying is a quick way to apply the first coats to new plaster once it has dried. A suitable mist or primer coat goes on first so the finish bonds, and the even film shows up any filling or snagging that needs attention before the final coats.

Industrial spray painting

For workshops, trade units and plant areas we spray metalwork, steel doors, railings and protective coatings. Coatings are specified to the surface and its use, and our specialist coatings service covers epoxy, polyurethane and other protective systems where a standard paint will not do.
