Wardrobe Spraying

Fitted wardrobe spraying and painted built-in wardrobes

If your fitted wardrobes are solid but the colour has dated, spraying them is an alternative to replacing them. We use the same process as our kitchen cabinet spraying: careful preparation, a hard-wearing two-pack lacquer and a colour matched to your choice.

Who wardrobe spraying suits

Spraying suits built-in and fitted wardrobes whose doors, frames and carcasses are still sound. If the doors are flat, shaker or framed and the hinges and runners work, a new colour can change the whole room without the cost and disruption of ripping the furniture out.

It is also a good fit when you are redecorating a bedroom and want the wardrobes to match new walls, or when you have inherited a colour that does not suit you.

What can be sprayed

Most painted, primed, wood, MDF and many foil or laminate wardrobe surfaces can be sprayed once they are properly prepared. We look at the material during the survey and tell you honestly if a surface is not suitable.

  • Wardrobe doors and drawer fronts
  • Frames, end panels and fillers
  • Cornice, pelmets and plinths
  • Dressing tables and fitted bedroom units

How the process works

Doors and drawer fronts are removed, labelled and sprayed away from the room. The fixed frames and panels are sprayed in place, with the room masked and sheeted and dust extraction running. Surfaces are cleaned, keyed and primed before the colour goes on, because preparation is what makes the finish last.

Once the coating has cured, doors are refitted, hinges are adjusted and handles are replaced or swapped for new ones if you want a change.

Paint for fitted wardrobes

Wardrobe doors are handled every day, so the finish needs to be hard. We spray pigmented 2K polyurethane lacquer, a two-pack coating that cures to a durable, low-sheen finish that resists chipping around handles and edges far better than brushed paint.

Colours can be matched to brands such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, and you can choose the sheen level that suits the room.

Wardrobes and kitchens together

Many customers spray their wardrobes at the same time as, or after, their kitchen. The buyer and process are the same, so if you are considering both, mention it when you enquire and we can look at them on the same visit.

Wardrobe spraying cost

We do not publish set prices. The cost depends on how many doors and panels there are, the current surface, how much repair is needed and the finish you choose. After a survey we send a written quote so you can compare it with the cost of replacement.

Common questions

Can you paint fitted wardrobes that are not wood?

Many MDF, primed, foil and laminate surfaces can be sprayed once they are cleaned, keyed and primed correctly. We check the material on the survey and will tell you if a surface is not suitable.

Is spraying better than painting wardrobe doors by hand?

Spraying gives an even finish with no brush marks, and the 2K lacquer we use is much harder than most brush-applied paints, so it resists chips around handles and edges.

Do the wardrobes have to come out?

No. Doors and drawer fronts are removed and sprayed separately, while the fixed frames and panels are sprayed in place with the room masked and dust extraction running.

Can you match a specific colour?

Yes. We colour match to brands such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, and you can choose the sheen level.

Can you spray our kitchen at the same time?

Yes. The process is the same as our kitchen cabinet spraying, so we can look at both on the same visit and quote them together.
