Access equipment has hard wind limits
Scaffold towers, tower systems and mobile elevating platforms all carry manufacturer wind speed limits for safe use, and those limits are lower on an exposed seafront site than the same equipment would tolerate inland, simply because gusts are stronger and less predictable near open water.
- Wind speed checked at height, not just at ground level, before mobilising access
- MEWP use suspended earlier on exposed elevations than sheltered ones
- Scaffold sheeting decisions balanced against genuine wind loading on the structure
