A boatyard has its own specialist trades for hull and vessel coatings, and that is not what we do. Our work on these sites covers the buildings around the water: workshops, site offices, storage sheds and the fixed structures that need ordinary decoration despite an extraordinary setting.

What this covers, and what it does not

We decorate the fabric of the site — cladding, doors, office interiors, fencing and fixed structures — using standard architectural coatings. Vessel hulls, antifouling and specialist marine coatings applied to boats themselves sit with the yard's own marine coatings specialists, not with us.

Working around slipway activity and oily surfaces

Ground-level areas near a slipway can pick up diesel, oil and grease from vessel movements, and any paintwork nearby needs preparation that accounts for that contamination rather than assuming a clean substrate. Adhesion failure on a freshly painted door near a busy slip is often traced back to this rather than the paint itself.

Weathered timber cladding on sheds and workshops

Many boatyard buildings are timber-clad and have taken decades of salt air with only patchy maintenance. Bringing cladding back usually means replacing failed boards rather than painting over rot, and being upfront about which sections are beyond a simple repaint.

Questions we are asked about this

Do you coat boat hulls or apply antifouling?

No. We decorate the buildings and fixed structures on a boatyard site. Hull and antifouling coatings need specialist marine products and are outside what we offer.

Can you work while the yard is operating normally?

Yes, we plan around crane lifts, vessel movements and slipway use, and agree working zones with the yard manager so our access does not interfere with operations.

Is oily ground contamination a problem for painting nearby structures?

It can be, if surfaces are not degreased properly first. We check for contamination before preparation rather than assuming a clean surface near a working slip.
