Painting a garage or outbuilding
Garages and stores are the last thing to get decorated and the first place ordinary paint fails. They are unheated, often damp, and the surfaces are usually bare block, cement render or rusting metal rather than plaster.

- Why does my garage paint keep peeling?
- Almost always priming. Bare block, damp render and rusted metal all need specific primers; a topcoat straight onto them will not hold.
- Can you paint the garage door?
- Yes. Metal doors are degreased, de-rusted, primed and finished — the preparation is most of the work.
- Is it worth doing in winter?
- Often not, unless the building can be warmed and dried. Coatings applied below their minimum temperature never reach full hardness.
The surfaces are not what is inside the house
Bare blockwork drinks paint, cement render is alkaline for years, and an old up-and-over door is usually carrying rust under the existing coating. Each needs the right primer, and skipping that step is why garage paint peels in sheets.

Damp, cold and no heating
An unheated outbuilding will not cure a coating the way a warm room does. Temperature and humidity limits on the data sheet are real, which is why winter garage work often needs to wait or be dehumidified.
What it is actually for
A store, a workshop and a converted gym want different finishes. A wipeable, light-reflective coating transforms a working garage far more than a decorative colour does.
