Reaching tall elevations with a MEWP

A cherry picker can put a decorator level with third-storey render in minutes rather than the days a scaffold might take to erect. That speed only works where the ground and access allow it, so we check both before recommending the machine over a fixed alternative.

Ground conditions decide the machine

A tracked or all-terrain platform can cope with soft grass and slopes that would tip a standard boom lift. A hard, level forecourt suits a simpler wheeled machine. Getting this wrong on the day means a hired machine that cannot actually reach the wall it was booked for.

Working around the public and neighbours

MEWPs need an exclusion zone at ground level, which matters on a street, a driveway shared with neighbours, or near a pedestrian route. We plan the footprint and any temporary signage before the machine turns up, rather than improvising once it is in position.

What a MEWP is not suited to

Detailed, close-up joinery work under a low soffit or in a tight courtyard often suits a tower or hand-built access better than a platform that has to be repositioned constantly for small moves. We match the machine to the task rather than the task to whatever is available to hire.
