By late October a coatable window might run from eleven until three rather than eight until five. We plan the sequence of elevations so the crew is always working the face that has caught the most sun that day, and we do not try to compress a summer-length day into an autumn one.
Some masonry and timber systems are formulated to tolerate lower application temperatures better than others, and choosing one of those over a summer-only product buys real flexibility in October and November.
Autumn brings falling leaves, wet spores and algae bloom on shaded brick and render, all of which need washing off before a coat goes on, not after. A wall that looked clean in August can need a proper wash down again by October.
