Programme, procurement and handover

What goes into a handover pack

A handover pack is the written record left behind once the job is finished, so anyone maintaining the building afterwards knows exactly what was used and where. Without it, colour and product decisions are lost the moment the crew leaves site.

A handover folder containing paint colour cards and product data sheets.

Product and colour records

Every product used is listed against the area it was applied to, with the exact colour reference rather than a description like 'off-white'. This is the single most useful document in the pack for anyone touching up later.

  • Product name, finish and colour code listed per area
  • Batch information included where it was recorded during the job
  • Any bespoke colour mix documented with its formula

Areas covered and any exclusions

The pack states exactly what was decorated and, where relevant, what was specifically excluded from the contract, so a future contractor is not left guessing whether an area was ever part of the original scope.

Any manufacturer information supplied

Where the manufacturer provides data sheets or maintenance guidance for a product used, we include it in the pack as supplied, alongside our own notes on where and how it was applied.

How we work on this

  • We record exact product names, finishes and colour codes per area, not general descriptions.
  • Any bespoke colour mix is documented with its formula, not left to memory.
  • The pack states scope covered and any specific exclusions in writing.

Questions we are asked about this

Will the handover pack include exact colour codes?

Yes, colours are recorded by their manufacturer reference, not a general description, so a future match is possible.

Do you supply data sheets for the products used?

Where the manufacturer provides them, yes, included alongside our own record of where each product was applied.

Who normally receives the pack?

Whoever commissioned the work — a homeowner, landlord, or managing agent on behalf of a freeholder.

Ask us what format you would like your handover pack delivered in before the job is complete.

A useful handover pack is a written, area-by-area record of exactly what was used, not a generic certificate.
