What happens on day one of a decorating job
The first day is mostly protection and setting up. It looks like slow progress and it is exactly what stops your floors, furniture and fittings picking up damage over the following week.
Walk round and confirm scope
We walk the areas with you, confirm colours and sheens, agree what stays and what moves, and flag anything that has changed since the quote.
Protection goes down first
Floors, worktops, fixtures and anything that can't be moved are covered and taped. Doorways get containment where sanding is planned.
Preparation starts before any paint
Washing, filling and sanding come first. Clients are often surprised how much of the job happens before a tin is opened.
Clear-down every evening
Tools are put away, dust is vacuumed and access routes are left usable. In occupied homes and offices that daily reset matters more than anything else.
Common questions
Do I need to be home?
For the initial walk round it helps, but many clients give access and leave us to it.
Will there be a lot of dust?
We use extracted sanders and containment to keep it down, though preparation is never entirely dust free.
What time do you start?
We agree start times in advance and stick to them, including out-of-hours arrangements.
Do you tidy up each day?
Yes — the site is cleared down and left safe every evening.
