Decorating a gym or fitness studio

Gyms punish paint. Bars are racked against walls, chalk goes everywhere, studios run humid for hours and members are in the building from six in the morning. Ordinary contract emulsion is beaten within a season.

Impact and abrasion zones

The free-weight area, rack surrounds and the first metre above skirting take constant knocks. Those zones deserve a harder film — and in some cases a physical protection detail rather than more paint.

Humidity in studios and changing rooms

Spin studios and changing areas sit wet for long stretches. Where ventilation is limited, a moisture-tolerant system with mould resistance is the difference between a smart wall and black speckling in the corners by spring.

Working around opening hours

We usually take one zone at a time, hoard it properly and work early or late so the gym floor stays open. Members tolerate a closed studio far better than a closed gym.

3 questions we get about this building type

Can you paint while the gym is open?
In zones, yes. We hoard the area being worked on and keep the rest of the floor trading. Fully open-plan sites are easier out of hours.
What stops the black mould in the spin studio?
Better extraction first, then a mould-resistant coating. Coating alone will slow the problem down but will not solve a ventilation fault, and we will say so.
Do you move the equipment?
We move what can be safely moved and mask the rest in place. Fixed rigs stay where they are.

Send a floor plan marked with your quietest hours and we will phase the work around them.
