01Why solid walls behave differently to cavity walls

Where render has failed more extensively, patch repairs in a matching lime mix are needed before any coating goes on, rather than papering over the defect with paint.
06Maintenance expectations
Breathable systems generally need more frequent attention than modern plastic paints, and this should be set as an expectation rather than a surprise. Limewash in particular is a maintenance-friendly product precisely because it's simple to refresh, but it isn't a one-coat-lasts-a-decade solution in the way modern emulsion often is. Setting this expectation at the outset avoids disappointment a few years in, and a planned refresh is far cheaper than remedial work caused by an unsuitable coating applied in the meantime by an unfamiliar contractor.
