Anti-mould paint systems, honestly assessed
Fungicidal coatings resist growth on the paint film. They do not warm a cold wall or remove moisture from the air, so they work best as one part of a wider fix.
Fungicidal emulsions and additives
Purpose-made anti-mould emulsions carry biocide in the film. Additives can upgrade a standard emulsion where a specific colour isn't available in a fungicidal range.
Thermal and insulating coatings
Insulating wall coatings and thermal linings raise the surface temperature slightly, which reduces condensation on the coldest planes. They're a useful measure on solid-wall property.
Preparation is non-negotiable
Existing growth is killed with a fungicidal wash and removed before any coating goes on. Painting over live mould simply feeds it from behind the new film.
The ventilation question
Extract fans that run, trickle vents that stay open and airflow behind furniture do more than any coating. We say this to clients even when it means a smaller job.

Does anti-mould paint really work?
It resists regrowth on the film, but it doesn't fix condensation — treat both together.
How long does the fungicidal effect last?
It reduces over time as the film ages and is cleaned, so it's a maintenance measure rather than permanent.
Can you add fungicide to any colour?
Additives allow most colours to be upgraded where the fungicidal range doesn't cover the shade.
Is a thermal coating worth it?
On persistently cold external walls it can help — but it isn't a substitute for insulation.
