Decorating a primary school classroom block
School decorating is defined by the calendar. Six weeks in summer, a fortnight at Easter, a week in between — and the block has to be fully reinstated and usable on the first morning of term, not nearly finished.

- Can a classroom block be done in a single week's half term?
- A few rooms, yes. A whole block usually needs the summer. We would rather tell you that up front than leave you with wet walls in September.
- Do you work while children are in school?
- Only in fully segregated areas, out of hours, or in blocks that are closed off. Otherwise it is a holiday job.
- Who moves the furniture?
- We can, provided the school clears personal items and displays first. That is normally the bottleneck, not the painting.

Corridors, cloakrooms and low-level damage
The damage in a primary is concentrated below about a metre: coat pegs, trays, bags and hands. Treating that band with a tougher, wipeable system while the upper walls take standard emulsion is the sensible use of a limited budget.
